Joel and April Otero – Navigators Update for January

Posted

Hello Prayer Partners!

I hope all of you had a wonderful time with family and friends this Christmas and New Year’s.   December was a neat time for Joel and me to get administrative work done, pray a lottogether, and rest with family and friends.  Even while most students went home we had the privilege of spending some specialtime with a few students who couldn’t be with their families.

*One student we spent time with is named Hu. He is from China. Joel took him to take his GMAT one afternoon. When Hu completed the exam he was given his score. Sadly, he did not get the score he needed for the grad program he planned to apply for. So, to cheer him up we got Qdoba to go (his first time eating Mexican food…he stuffed his burrito with all kinds of ingredients) and rented a movie. We enjoyed spending time with Hu in our home and sharing life with him.

*Joel also had the exciting opportunity to share with Honda (a Taiwanese student) and read from Luke about Jesus’ birth. Joel explained the Nativity scene that Honda had scene in front of people’s homes.

*We also got together with two students who are dating. The girl attends my Bible study. She explained to me that her boyfriend was interested in discussing the Bible but was not yet fully convinced. Therefore, she and I have been arranging “double dates” with Joel and me, so that we can continue to share with her boyfriend about Christ and why we believe and follow Him.

Would you praise God with us for the neat opportunities that we had even over thebreak to share Christ?

We are also so thankful for the rest that Joel and I were able to get over thebreak. We visited my grandparents in Alabama and the time was just what we needed.

Would you also be praying this January?

-For the start of the semester (that students would come back eager to know God and follow Him)

-For our planning for the large group and for those individual students that we disciple

-Fordiversity in our ministry

-To reconnect well with those we are reaching out to that don’t yet know Christ

-For Joel and I as we continue to trust the Lord to bring a baby into our lives

Thank you so much for praying! We are so thankful for you!  When we step onto the campus and prepare for a discipleship one-to-one we are spurred on by knowing you are with us in prayer!
