Thank you so much for all your prayers this past month of month!
God has been doing some neat things! Here is a bit of what has been happening with the Lord and the USF Navs:
-Nov 4th we had a joint event with others USF ministries called Secret Church. It was held to remember the persecuted church around the world. We also received a long set of powerful and applicable messages from Pastor David Platt. The students left the night (at around 1:30am) feeling encouraged, inspired and equipped with answers to hard questions that they or their friends might be asking.
-Nov 9-14th Joel and I were Louisville, KY at our National Navigator Staff Conference. It is held about once every four years. This was a very encouraging conference for us! We attended many large message meetings, workshops and one to one conversations that refreshed our vision for our lives and ministry. I was most greatly challenged to slow down with Jesus in my daily time with Him. Practically I realized I was not taking time to stop and simply listen for the Lord…as Psalm 46:10 tells us to do.
-Nov 23 I had the privilege of having a most exciting conversation with a guy named Hu from China. God had to have been greatly working much in advance because when I talked with Hu I was easily able to share the gospel with him. He was fully engaged and asking many questions! He asked me why churches are on TV. I asked him, “what are you most passionate about?” He looked at me seriously and said, “You think about these types of questions?” I laughed! I told him “yes!” and he proceeded to ask me what I am most passionate about! It was a complete open door for the gospel!
This leads me to Thanksgiving and our trip with international students to Miami.
Hu came to our home with 10 other international students for Thanksgiving! We took the opportunity to share about Christ again!
TONIGHT Joel is going to go swimming with Hu (a favorite hobby of his) and read the Bible together!!
Nov. 24-27th Our trip to Miami was full of adventure, learning about culture, and exciting conversations about God!
These are some of the major things that took place this November. But I also don’t want to leave out the exciting changes that God is making in the lives of those that are being discipled and in Bible study!
Would you praise God with us for all that He is doing in the lives of these students?
Would you please be praying:
For Hu as he begins to investigate the Bible with Joel
For all the students as they manage their time to prepare for finals
For all the students as they go home for the Christmas break (this is a real spiritually hard time for students where they often can slip into old sinful habits)
For Joel and I to finish the semester well with the students (especially the students we disciple) and prepare for next semester
Thank you SO much for all your prayers and support! With your generous giving financially and through prayers we are able to invest in these students lives!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
With you in the race,
Joel and April Otero
