Kennebec Church Ministry Update

Posted

Greetings from Maine!

I don’t know about you, but things are starting to feel a lot like winter around here! We have been experiencing the dropping temperatures, snow storms, and it is dark by 4pm. Even in the midst of less than favorable weather we have had a great month of ministry. KCC of Augusta continues to grow each week! Our people are enjoying a great worship team that is leading us in creating a worshipful atmosphere in our services. Our community groups continue to add new people on a consistent basis and many groups have taken the initiative and ventured out on their own to make an impact on our community. In this past month Community Groups have raked lawns for elderly folks, fixed roofs for single women, and passed our homemade Christmas Wreaths in local neighborhoods. We are working very hard in preparation for our Christmas Eve services which will feature a concert from our band and a great video presentation of the Christmas story. We are planning on a packed house and have been working hard to invite unreached people to this event. The coming months will be very busy as we adjust our worship service times and conduct a complete overhaul on our children’s ministry. We are very excited to be making very needed improvements in this area of our ministry and our families with children are very pleased as well! We are also hoping to add a part-time student minister to our ministry team to work with our teenagers. Up until this point I have been filing this role, but am anxious to hand this off to one of our current worship leaders who has experience in this area and a love for young people. We are praying that we continue to meet financial needs so that we will have the means to fill this important role.

This past weekend KCC, and our churches in Winthrop, Whitefield, and China, conducted our annual Santa Claus Parties. We hold these events in local schools and invite the community to take free, professional photographs with Santa and Mrs. Claus. These events were a huge success and we were able to connect with hundreds of people at each one. We already have seen tangible results as a few families visited our services this past Sunday! We are all planning various other outreach events for later this month. Please be praying for these to be successful!

Our newest church, New Life Church of China, continues to experience new growth and is launching their first small groups which will create opportunities for connection and study. Continue to pray that God eventually equips this new church with its own Pastor to lead and guide this infant church plant. Pray that God continues to give all of us energy and wisdom as we fill in the roles until then.

We continue to feel the effects of a struggling economy in our weekly tithes and offerings. While we have met budget, things have been considerably tight. Thanks so much for your continued support as it is very necessary. Thank you also for your prayers as we continue to work hard in reaching our communities for the Kingdom.

Blessings,
Dan
